New owners, Jenny and her husband, a transplant from China and a local, are sweet, smart and savvy and a great hostess. Serving absolutely scrumptious blueberry pancakes and delicious potatoes (the best we've ever had). Limited breakfast menu, but what they do have is awesome! Definitely recommend and still reminiscent of the old Ebb Tide. Say hi from Steve and Tina when you visit this great place.

Like stepping into a time machine! Its seriously like 1972 all over again. I actually liked that about it as it was unique, kitschy and oddly reassuring. The food was pretty over priced considering it was cheap and not really well made diner food. Which honestly, I guess I could've lived with but the coffee was abysmal and to me that is just unforgivable. I think I heard rumblings that they were closing their doors...maybe that's for the best.

I was a bit skeptical about this place after reading Yelp reviews, despite our family raving about it endlessly. After a bit of arm-twisting, I was convinced to grab lunch here and much to my surprise, realized the Yelp ratings were very misguided (at least in my opinion). What many people mistake for cheap or poorly prepared food, is in fact very basic, original style recipes being prepared the way it's been done in this area for decades. The clam chowder is a perfect example of this, made from minimal ingredients and incredibly tasty. A relative had the lobster stew and couldn't stop talking about the large quantity of meat in it. Lobster roll was as good as any I've had (which isn't saying much really... hard to do it impressively I think), but the real treat was their signature dessert: peach shortcake with ice cream. This was by far the best shortcake I've ever eaten and worth the trip alone. If you want old-time, original coastal Maine grub, this is a great spot. If you want the same style of clam chowder you get in a restaurant in any other part of the country, maybe go elsewhere. If you're looking for the best dessert you might ever have, this is your place.

Um, they are closed after 40 wonderful years. Yelp should acknowledge this and the wonderful people that made it happen.

Really enjoyed the scallops and haddock. The others in my group ordered lobster roll and fried clams and they thought they were good as well and for their prices, they were a very good deal.

For 28 years we told the story of having incredible blueberry pancakes while on a visit to Boothbay Harbor. While I'm 99.9% sure this was at Ebb Tide, a recent visit proved terribly disappointing. The blueberry pancakes were dense with tasteless blueberries that cost an extra $1.50 per pancake. The syrup was "maple flavored" rather than real. The bacon was sad little strips. My wife's cinnamon roll was just ok. To preserve the old memory I'm going to force myself to believe it must have been at some other place in town. I'll keep searching for it, rather than return to Ebb Tide.

We chose Ebb Tide over a different restaurant (Andrew's Harborside) for our vacation breakfasts. Service was better. Smaller place, but great food. Even got peach cobbler to go, and had it when we returned home several days later. Great! They accept charge cards, for the amount of the bill only, can't put a tip on the card - have to leave a cash tip. Maybe that's better for the wait staff. Cinnamon rolls much better than Andrew's. Been coming here for last 20 years or so.

Came here for breakfast on vacation & was satisfied. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance was woody & understated. I was thrilled not to see a restaurant overly decorated with harbor-themed plastic junk... which happens all too often! This place is in a GREAT location. It's right across from the water & in the middle of tons of little shops & galleries. This is a great place to eat if you also want to wander around for a while. We ordered an omelet and a breakfast sandwich- which were both delicious. Neither came with home fries, so we ordered a side & they were pretty plain, but not bad. Iced coffee was delicious.

My boyfriend and I came here for an early lunch and ordered the fish sandwich that was supposed to come with a berry cup, but was instead served with very mayonaisey cole slaw. The sandwich wasn't bad (standard piece of fried fish with cheese and lettuce). My boyfriend's roll, however, had a huge circle of mold at the bottom of his bun, which he luckily saw before he ate. The waitress was very apologetic and brought him a new one and didn't charge us for it, but that was a huge turnoff. I don't like to throw places under the bus for what was perhaps a freak accident. I would have otherwise given this place 2 1/2 stars. Nothing spectacular but it is quick, cheap food and breakfast is served all day.

Ebb tide is a cute little diner, basic Maine menu options. I liked it less this summer than in years past. Maybe it was the lackluster service. I think they just turned in their old-timer staff for a batch of begrudging 19 year-olds. Hmm. Food is good, but again, basic... nothing too creative. Lobster roll is more mayonnaise-y than most of the other restaurants in the area. Good lunch place, nice stop after a boat ride. Wouldn't choose to do dinner here. Go across the street to Kaler's, better view and better lobster roll!

Ebb Tide is nothing spectacular, their food isn't going to blow your socks off. It also isn't the cleanest place I have ever been. The wait staff is always friendly but distracted. The wooden booths are very narrow and aren't made for larger people. My husband is 6'8 and barely fits, and is quite uncomfortable. There food is always cheap (unless you order seafood), the service is friendly, and you get fast service. Overall this is a good place to go, when there is nothing else around. Parking can be very tricky to find, they have to share parking with the rest of the street, or you have to pay for parking.

I have gone here once a year since I can remember. This place is a Boothbay tradition! Lobster rolls, sandwiches - pretty much anything - its all good.

I really wanted to like this place. Tucked upstairs with funky booths makes it fun. Food was subpar at best. Crab roll and crab melt were all mayo. No flavor. Thank goodness for hot sauce. We added fries to our kids burger. ( less than a handful and almost as much as the burger?) we had to get up twice to ask the staff for water and hot sauce. They were playing cards in the back booth. Over priced compared to the other restaurants in town. I'm guessing they do breakfast better? I hope so.

Excellent breakfast, very affordable with a great atmosphere. and better than average coffee for a Maine diner. They seem to do baked good especially well, blueberry or otherwise. It is a tiny place though so i wouldn't try to drag a soccer team here!

And this is the place I had a lobster roll for the very first time in my life. So although I don't have anything else to compare it too, I must say that it was pretty good. It was less expensive than in Boston, but I also noticed that it was quite small. But who knows, maybe they're supposed to be? Anyhow, the sweet potato fries were really tasty. And the atmosphere was great: some of the servers have been here for over thirty years.

This is a great little restaurant, that has been serving Boothbay residents and tourist for decades. If your in the hunt for a good breakfast or lunch this is a good try. It has great choices with reasonable prices.

Tiny all-wood booths make you feel like you've found a secret even though you're in the main commercial zone of a tourist destination! Basic breakfast done well. Came here on a saturday and got a cinnamon roll and pancakes. I asked for whipped cream and got a ton!

The best peach shortcake! We think about it often and order it every summer when visiting Boothbay Harbor.

Wonderful! And not expensive. I know you are in Maine and can see the ocean from the window booths but be sure to try the Tom Turkey dinner and on Thursday nights the scallop dinner with free refills. Breakfast all day, great for Brunch after church on Sunday. Be sure to eat here!

This is not a winter town but Ebb Tide seems to be the only one sticking it out in bitter temperatures. I had a fried haddock cooked beautifully with tartar sauce. Rasberry pie was the best I've ever had -- hence the four stars. Love this small place with character, real character, even if it was the only place open in town...

This place has apparently been around for 35 years, and it's a classic. Cramped wooden booths, but with a cozy, friendly feel. The breakfast was awesome, I must say. The scrambled egg (white) with cheese on an English muffin was a big hit for my son. The 3 egg omlette with mushroom Swiss was delish, and so was the (single) blueberry pancake - chock full of tiny Maine berries. Slice of ham was thick and juicy, and the blueberry muffin was soft and flavorful. Reasonable prices and quick service - will definitely return!

Run, don't walk away from this place! We were at the Ebb Tide for our 8th and final time this Memorial day weekend. We had had a big lunch earlier and stepped in for a light dinner. My wife had the greasiest eggs (yes for a light dinner) I had ever seen. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and got a lukewarm cup of milk with a teaspoon of what looked like corn oil floating on it with a few clams and mostly raw potatoes. This was a far cry from the chowder I first tasted at The Ebb Tide in 1998. What a disappointment! No seasonings no cooking, just threw ingredients together and applied minimal heat, horrible. For a main, I ordered a short fried clam plate. This is supposed to be a kids portion at $9.99. I got 3 clam strips and a plate full of fries. I could not tell if the clams were fresh or high quality frozen, but at $9.95 and less than a once of clams, I felt completely ripped off. If you have been here before, seriously think about passing on this Boothbay landmark, it is a greasy shadow of its former self.

I loved this place. The booths were oddly shaped, and the place is small, but I liked the simple food. I'd get a simple grilled cheese with bacon for lunch, but it was fast, cheap, and good. I loved the old ladies working there too, lots of personality.

I love it :) It's small, busy and the waitresses wear cute blue diner uniforms. The Boothbay Harbor Club is my staple meal here, we go for breakfast a lot, I enjoy the frappes :) The fried seafood is good, and the hot dog and chicken finger baskets are good too. The little fruit cups and stuff are frozen and not ideal but everything just adds to the atmosphere!

The wonderful blueberry is my friend and it wants to be yours too! When I visit Maine I renew my love affair with all things blueberry. Blueberry pie, blueberry pancakes, blueberry cobbler, blueberry ales...you get the picture. I love wild Maine blueberries. The Ebb Tide has the best blueberry pancakes. The cakes are light and fluffy and they are generously packed with wild Maine blueberries. The desserts are also something to die for. One of our traveling companions ordered the Peach Shortcake and raved about how wonderful and fresh it was. The Ebb Tide is a tasty treat indeed!

Good place to go for breakfast. Cute little booths with lots of locals and tourists. Food was good and decently priced. Only downfall...no sourdough toast. Is sourdough just a west coast thing?

A Boothbay classic. People are always nice, food is tasty, generous portions and very affordable.
